Clay Lane Darr, 22 of Columbia, MO and formerly of Kirksville passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 15, 2016 at University Hospitals in Columbia.
Clay was born December 30, 1993 in Kirksville to Bruce and Robin (Jones) Darr. He is survived by his parents of Kirksville, his brother Kyle of Kirksville, his grandparents Patsy Jones of Kirksville and Glenn (Sonny) and Leona Darr of Novinger and his beloved great grandmother Carmelita McVay of Kirksville. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Brad and Debbie Darr, Brent Darr, Kevin and Brenda Jones, Darrin and Karla Jones and Justin and Susan Jones as well as many cousins. He is also survived by a host of friends that meant the world to him including his black Lab, Cooper.
Clay was preceded in death by his grandfather Tommy Jones and his aunt Katie Darr.
Clay was a graduate of Kirksville Senior High School with the Class of 2012. He was a three sport athlete for four years participating in track, football, wrestling. Clay began wrestling with Kirksville Kids Club at the age of 5 and wrestled through his senior year of high school. He was not a standout but he never quit. He was a state qualifier his junior year. He also started racing go carts at the age of 8 and competed through high school. It was a family activity that created a host of cherished memories. He and Kyle also helped their dad build a pulling truck which they all enjoyed pulling. Clay also enjoyed hunting deer and turkey on Grandpa Sonny’s farm with much success. The hours spent hunting with his dad and brother are precious memories. Clay graduated from MACC in 2014 with his Associates Degree and attended University of Missouri-Columbia. Clay was a wonderful loving and considerate son, brother and grandson. His shining smile, outgoing personality and big hugs will be sorely missed. Rest easy our precious Clayman - the struggle is done.
Public visitation will be held Friday (October 21, 2016) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home. A Memorial will be set up by the night of visitation.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Hutton, Harrison Dollinis, Landon Rice, Quinn Benson, Lucas McClamroch and Graydon Gaines.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (October 22, 2016) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Virgil Jones officiating. Interment will follow the service at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.
