Eldora Katherine (Schleicher) Heyl passed away on September 20, 2015 at the age of 92 at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

The daughter of Samuel and Katherine (Benzel) Schleicher, Eldora was born on October 10, 1922 in Gering, Nebraska. Eldora graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1940. She was employed by Downey's Photography Studio and the JC Penney Store in Scottsbluff, Nebraska where she met her husband. On June 19, 1949 she was united in marriage to William (Bill) F. Heyl at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The lived in Kearney, Nebraska and Rushville, Nebraska before moving to Eureka, Kansas in 1955 where she lived until moving to Kirksville, Missouri to be closer to her daughter in 2008.

Her faith and family were the most important things to her throughout life. She loved to travel especially when she could fly and always wanted the window seat. One of her dreams was to be a pilot. Eldora was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, C.L.C. Altar Guild, Glenwood County Hospital Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star.

Her husband, Bill preceded her in death on November 9, 1992. Also preceding her in death were her parents, sister and husbands Edna and Emanuel Frank, Leona and Victor Rien, brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Heyl, Jack Hight, Larry Wurm and sisters-in-law Dorothy Farlow, Ruth DeLett, and Jacqueline Schleicher.

Eldora is survived by her son Tom and wife Terri Heyl of Tempe, Arizona and daughter Karla and husband Ed Campbell of Kirksville, Missouri, one brother Arthur Schleicher of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, one sister Joleen Wurm of Lakewood, Colorado, 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 2 great-granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, 2 step-great granddaughters and 1 step-great grandson, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Christ Lutheran Church in Eureka, Kansas or to the Special Care Unit at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, Missouri. Memorials may be mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
