Anthony "Tony" Thomas Grgurich, 95, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (May 27, 2015) at his home.

The son of Matthew and Josephine (Skender) Grgurich, he was born May 16, 1920 in Novinger, Missouri. Tony was united in marriage on May 5, 1950 in Kirksville to Bonita Jean Daubresse, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2012.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Frank, Jack, Joe, Jake and Melvin; and three sisters, Ann, Victoria, and Katherine (his twin).

Tony is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Mark and Kathy Grgurich of Novinger, and Larry and Linda Grgurich of Kirksville; five grandchildren, Eric and wife Tara, Clint, Nick and wife LeAnn, Neal Grgurich and Natalie McBride and husband Jason; and fifteen great grandchildren.

He was a graduate from Novinger High School and lived his entire in the Novinger community. Tony was drafted into the United States Army, during World War II, in November 1941. He was assigned to the 32nd Infantry Division (Red Arrow). Tony served honorably for four years, in multiple campaigns in the South Pacific including New Guinea, southern Philippines, Luzon, and Leyte. His military decorations and citations include four Bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge.

Tony returned home in October of 1945 and purchased his first Caterpillar bulldozer. He was self-employed doing bulldozing until he retired at 90-years-old. Tony was an active community supporter. He was a lifetime member and served as District Commander of the VFW Post 2508. Tony was also a member of the Novinger Lions Club, the DAV, American Legion, president of PTA, and a lifelong member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Novinger.

Public visitation will be held Friday (May 29, 2015) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis Noe Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday (May 30, 2015) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Father Chris Cordes officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service at the Shibley's Point Cemetery near Novinger.

Pallbearers will be Eric, Clint, Nick, Neal, Derek, and Tyson Grgurich.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Anthony "Tony" Grgurich may be made to the St. Judes Children Hospital or Samaritan's Purse. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
