Lola May (Smith) Kehrer, 88, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (December 15, 2015) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Samuel Elijah and Julie Margaret (Wiedenkofer) Smith, she was born November 13, 1927 in Winigan, Missouri. On December 24, 1945 in Kirksville, Missouri, Lola was united in marriage to Clifford Frank Kehrer who preceded her in death on October 4, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Janet Shirley; three sisters, Daisy Smith, Betty Goring and Jeanette Fast; and three brothers, Vernon, Leon, and Dale Smith.

Lola is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Suzanne Kehrer of Round Rock, TX; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Cary Alexander of Kirksville, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Shirley Smith of Anna, TX; six grandchildren, Jennifer Crawford, Jason (Stephanie) Howerton, and Jeremy Howerton all of Kirksville, MO, David R. (Sarah) Kehrer II of San Leon, TX, Kendra (Randy) Harrison of Hutto, TX, and Danny (London) Shirley of Kirksville, MO; eleven great-grandchildren, Michael Fehr, Dillan Crawford, Tyler Howerton, Katie Howerton, Chase Howerton, and Cayden Howerton all of Kirksville, MO, Aiden Harrison, Keegan Harrison, David Kehrer III, Kenady Grace Kehrer and Kathryn Diane Kehrer; nephew, Bill Goring of Kirksville, MO; niece, Julie Fast of Millard, MO, and numerous other nieces and nephews from Missouri and Illinois.

Lola and her husband Clifford owned and operated Kehrer Construction Company for many years. Her passion in life was being a wonderful caregiver of her children, grand-children, great- grand-children and nieces and nephews. She loved flowers, crafting, traveling and her home, especially when full of family.

Lola was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in the church choir, attended First Baptist Church where she sang with the Senior Songsters, and also attended Illinois Bend Church of rural Kirksville, and New Hope Church in Millard. Lola also enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines and Harmony 4 Quartet.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (December 19, 2015) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor John Davison officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Saturday (December 19, 2015) from noon to 2:00 p.m. service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Howerton, Jeremy Howerton, Michael Fehr, Tyler Howerton, Chase Howerton and Bill Goring. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Fast and Cary Alexander.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Parkinson Disease Foundation or to the Diabetes Association. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
