Norman Eugene Phelps, 86, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Kester Norman and Vera (Tudor) Phelps, he was born December 7, 1929 in Kirksville, Missouri. On December 7, 1949, Norman was united in marriage to Charlotte Robinson who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley Ivers.

Norman is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Norman N. Phelps and Dennis Eugene Phelps both of Kirksville, MO, and Omer Lee and Cathy Phelps of Foristell, MO; one daughter, Marilyn Sue Fuller of Rochester, NY; fifteen grandchildren, Nate (Jen) Phelps, Nicole (Jonathan) Summers, Hannah (Adam) Fugate, Jeremy (Chiara) Scharfenburg, Brian (Melissa) Scharfenburg, Katie (Ricky) McCollum, Stephanie Fuller, Daniel (Julie) Phelps, Luke (Randee Rae) Phelps, Adam (Heidi) Phelps, Andrew Phelps, Matthew Phelps, Sarah Phelps, Joshua Phelps and Carson Phelps, as well as 20 great-grandchildren.

Norman was a graduate from Kirksville High School. He was a long time farmer and was employed thirty-two years at Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State University) until retiring.

Norman loved farming, hunting and making glass lamps.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (December 13, 2015) at Highland Park Cemetery, with family receiving friends one hour before in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
