Lawrence Edward Levett, 83, of Macon, Missouri, passed away Saturday (November 21, 2015) at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Missouri.

The son of Walter Thaddies and Della (Smith) Levett, he was born September 1, 1932 in Callao, Missouri. On September 1, 2002 in Macon, Missouri, Lawrence married Shirley Ann Brickey.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; one son, Jim Levett of New Cambria, MO; two daughters, Nancy Levett of Boise, ID and Barbara Peavler of Macon, MO; daughter-in-law, Tena Levett of New Cambria, MO; five step children, Sherry Travis (Neil) of Kirksville, MO, Teresa McGuff (Mike) of Olathe, KS, Gerri Hayes (Danny) of Macon, MO, Mary Kindle of Kirksville, MO, and Cary Brickey of Kirksville, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Wilma Levett of New Cambria, MO; seven grandchildren, Jesse, Michelle, Brett, Katie, Alana, Spencer and Camden; several great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and 10 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tony Levett; one brother, Johnnie Levett and one sister, Ruby Swank.

Lawrence was a graduate from New Cambria High School and was a lifelong farmer in the New Cambria area. Lawrence served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a Jeep mechanic. After being honorably discharged February 10, 1955, Lawrence transferred to the Army Reserve where he completed eight years of service. He also worked as a mechanic through the years and loved tractor pulls and woodworking.

After retirement, Lawrence enjoyed going to the Macon Senior Center where he loved playing cards and spending time with friends.

Lawrence was a past member of the Macon Flying Club and had a pilot's license a number of years. He was also a member of American Legion and attended the Cross Roads Christian Church in Macon.

It was Lawrence's wish to be cremated and his family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday (November 24, 2015) at Gilleland & McElwain Funeral Home in New Cambria, Missouri. Interment will take place at a later date at New Cambria Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lawrence Levett may be made to the Macon Senior Center. They may be left at the church during visitation or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
