Sammie Lee Davis, 79, of LaPlata, Missouri, passed away Friday (October 2, 2015) at the LaPlata Nursing Home.

The son of Jacob and Ola (Wolf) Davis he was born March 18, 1936 in Highlandville, MO. Sam was married to Pat Alanic and to this union three children were born. On September 4, 1985 Sam was united in marriage to Marridee Garrett in Memphis, Missouri.

Sam is survived by his wife Marridee of thirty years; one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Joan Davis of Novinger, MO; two daughters and one son-in-law, Amy and Bob Burke of Lebanon, MO and Betty Jo Davis and friend Carl of Oklahoma; step children, Michael McNary of LaPlata, MO, Teresa Barnes and husband Richard of LaPlata, MO, Donald Derickson and wife Tara of Kansas City, MO, and Bobby and Rochelle Derickson of Carolton, MO; one brother, Frank Davis of Highlandville, MO; two sisters, Josephine Jones of Granite City, IL and Betty Holstein of Nixa, MO; fifteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Sam was a graduate from Spokane High School in Spokane, Missouri. He worked as a mechanic a number of years at McDonald Douglas Air Craft in St. Louis. He had resided in northeast Missouri area the past thirty years.

Sam's family always came first and he loved fishing, reading, his church family and was a people person.

He was a past member of Kirksville Moose Lodge, a past Scout Leader and member of Hazel Creek Free Will Baptist Church of Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (October 4, 2015) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri, with Chaplain Paul Milliken officiating. Interment will follow at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Sunday (October 4, 2015) from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Leon Garrison, Kevin Sevits, Loren Chrisman, Charlie Ferdig, Randy Shaw and Billy Salsberry.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Sam Davis may be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
