Garry Michael King, 62, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday (August 31, 2014) at his home.

The son of Jacob Averill and Birdie “Bertha” (Bachman) King, he was born December 8, 1951 in Kirksville, Missouri. On December 8, 1972, he married his childhood sweetheart, Vicky S. Walker of Kirksville, MO.

Garry is survived by his wife Vicky of 42 years. Gene, Eula, Heather, and Danny Vlahovich of Brownsburg, IN, and more friends than I could ever start to name as I wouldn’t have enough room.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Beverly Ann King, and one brother, Richard Lee King Sr.

Garry was raised in Kirksville, Missouri, and graduated from Kirksville Senior High School with the Class of 1969. Garry worked as Operations manager for B & H Petroleum, Ice House Convenience Stores, The Polar Ice Company and last for Auto Plaza.

Garry enjoyed woodworking, traveling, but loved showing, “The Black Rose” his 1956 Chevrolet at car shows. He also loved visiting with his many friends he had made through his lifetime. Garry loved most being with his wife, Vicky and their cats, Smoke and Sky King.

Garry was president of Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville for many years.

Garry’s wishes were to be cremated and a gathering of friends will be held at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Garry King may be made to his wife, Vicky King. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
