Howard Eugene Sullivan, 92, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday (July 5, 2014) at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Missouri.

On January 10, 1922 in Macon, Missouri, Howard was born the son of Edward Daniel and Effie Frances (Campbell) Sullivan. On April 10, 1943 in Elmer, Missouri, Howard was united in marriage to Nancy “Marie” Tuttle who preceded him in death on October 24, 1998.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Johnny Sullivan; three brothers, Edward, Manford and William Sullivan; three sisters, Opal Warren, Reba Weber and Lorene Pipes, and one grandson, Danny Sullivan.

Howard is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Ruth Sullivan of Macon, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Joe Briscoe of Elsberry, MO; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews,

Howard served his country in the United States Army during WWII. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1946, Howard returned home and began farming until 1999, when he sold out and moved to Macon, Missouri, to make his home. He later moved to Kirksville, Missouri, where he resided until entering the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Missouri, in 2006.

Howard was a member of the Yarrow Cemetery Board and of the Gifford Christian Church.

He loved his hunting trips to Wyoming and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday (July 8, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Daniel Brand officiating. Interment withh military honors will follow the service at Yarrow Cemetery in Yarrow, Missouri.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday (July 8, 2014) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Drew Lilledahl, Josh Briscoe, Steve Sullivan, Jake Sullivan, Jason Basler, Garrett Sullivan, Sonna Basler and Heather Lilledahl.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Howard Sullivan may be made to the Yarrow Cemetery. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
