Georgia Elnora Louise (Cain) Bergmeier, 91, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday (July 14, 2014) at Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri.

The daughter of George and Eva (Mullenix) Cain, she was born April 30, 1923 in Worthington, Missouri. On August 17, 1944, Georgia was united in marriage to Virgil Wayne Bergmeier and to this union two children were born.

Georgia is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rosana and Charles Williams of Kirksville, MO, three grandsons, Michael Williams, Jonathan Williams and wife Kelly of Kirksville, MO and Robert Williams of Davenport, IA, as well as three great-grandchildren Cody Williams, Allison and Annie Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Timothy Shay Bergmeier, in infancy, two grandchildren, Sherrie Lynne Williams and Anthony Adam Williams; one sister, Mary Lois Swann and three brothers, Clifford, Cloyd and Ronald Cain.

Georgia was raised in Putnam County, graduating from Unionville High School, and she attended Northeast MO State Teachers College. In her earlier years, she taught in the rural schools of Putnam Co, Missouri. She worked in various factories, retiring from Hollister’s, Inc. in 1985. She resided in Martinstown and after her retirement moved to Kirksville to be near her daughter.

Georgia was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Kirksville.

Georgia has been cremated and a private graveside service was held at Rose Cemetery in Putnam County near Graysville, Missouri, with Pastor Sam Burkholder officiating.

Arrangements were taken care of Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
