Norma Jean (Switzer) Fisher, 79, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (May 13, 2014) at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Franklin and Winnie (Finney) Switzer, she was born December 12, 1934 in St. Catherine, Missouri. On February 7, 1952 in Marceline, Missouri, Norma was united in marriage to Emmett Fisher who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Susan Partin; step-mother, Thelma Switzer; step-father, Winson Finney and her son-in-law, Roger Partin.

Norma is survived by her son, Harvey Fisher of Kirksville, MO; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ralph and Mary Switzer ofGalesville, AL, Keith and Betty Switzer of Kearney, MO and Wesley Switzer of Coweta, OK; one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Jerry Ratliff of Woodstock, GA; two grandsons, Alexander Partin and Nicholas Partin and fiancé Mary all of Kirksville, MO; three great-grandchildren, James, Zian and Susan Partin, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Norma was a graduate from Bucklin High School. She started working for KOH in 1972 as a central supply tech and transferred to Northeast Regional Medical Center where she was employed until her retirement.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and her dogs. Norma loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Norma was a member of Hamilton Street Baptist Church of Kirksville.

It was Norma’s wish to be cremated and a graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday (May 16, 2014) to honor her life at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville. Pastor Virgil Jones will conduct the service.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Norma Fisher may be made to the Adair County Humane Society. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
