Marion Frank Foster, 79, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (April 25, 2014) at the University Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

The son of Boyd Thomas and Anna May (O’Haver) Foster, he was born June 13, 1934 in Stahl, Missouri. On May 27, 1956 in Brashear, Missouri, Frank was united in marriage to JoAnne Hammontree.

Frank is survived by his wife JoAnne of fifty-seven years; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelli and Bob Anderson of Columbia, South Carolina; one grandson, Jared Charles Foster Jordan and wife Stephanie of Dewitt, MI; one sister-in-law, Shirley Foster of Dubuque, IA; one nephew, Mike Foster of Morristown, TN; one niece, Tina Foster of Marion, IA and his grand puppy, Gracie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles Linn “Chuck” Foster in April of 1983; one sister, Lois Yadon and two brothers, Basil Foster and Cecil Dean in infancy.

Frank received his education in the Green Castle and Green City public schools. He went to work for Florsheim Shoe Factory where he was employed forty-six years until retiring in 1996. After retiring, Frank picked up and transported cars for Jim Robertson Chevrolet for sixteen years.

He enjoyed his cars, golfing, bowling and hunting.

Frank never met a stranger and had many special friends.

Frank and JoAnne were instrumental in the start of Faith United Methodist Church in Kirksville, and was a lifetime member. He was the first trustee and treasurer of the church but his real passion was being a greeter which he thoroughly enjoyed for over thirty years.

Public visitation will be held Sunday (April 27, 2014) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday (April 28, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Sheila Swafford and Pastor Darrell Draper officiating. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will Randy Henness, John Garlock, Raymond Magruder, John Rehm, Ross Fortney and Jim Graham. Honorary pallbearers will J.C. Summers, Dale McCollum, Marion Rehm, Mac Ayers, Cecil Taylor, Ron Hargadine and Steve Taylor.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Frank Foster may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
