Myrtle Alta (Roberts) Rouse, 83, of Glenwood, Missouri, passed away Thursday—March 20, 2014.

The daughter of Harry Silvereenus and Mary Jane (Sizemore) Roberts, Myrtle was born in near Novinger, MO, on March 4, 1931. On January 10, 1948, she married Orville L. Rouse, who preceded her in death.

Myrtle was also preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Carrie Rouse and Chad McElderry; three brothers: Noble, Gene and Frances; three sisters: Goldie Rouse, Viola Scott, and Blanche May.

Myrtle is survived by her companion of twenty years, Clarince Rouse of Glenwood, MO. She is also survived by three sons, Edwin Rouse and wife Janet of Kirksville; Mike Rouse and Laurie Penn of Columbia, MO; Eldon Rouse and wife Angie of Kirksville; three daughters, Linda McElderry and Husband Roger of Exline, IA; Shelia Coonfield and husband Alan of Kirksville; Mary Avey and husband Rick of Lehigh, IA; one brother, Luther Roberts of Rockford, IL; one sister, Gladys Hover of Inverness, FL; ten grandchildren, Michelle Kaster of Knoxville, IA; Toby Rouse of Kirksville; Heather Findling and husband Ryan of Columbia, MO; Tim Coonfield and wife Kristy of Kearney, MO; Melissa Vrvan and husband Michael of North Liberty, IA; Daniel Coonfield of Des Moines, IA; Misty Rouse and Fiancé Gary Klenke of Sturgeon, MO; Lesslei Rouse and wife Amber of Fort Dodge, IA; Sassha Sherrow and Fiancé Jerry Hart of Kirksville, MO; Leise Kelly and husband Chris of Kirksville; twenty great grandchildren: Kayden, Kirya, Taylor, Brandon, Conner, Wyatt, Leela, Ashley, Jydney, Grant, Tatum, Easton, Garrett, Gage, Lesslie, Reagan, Tanner, Saylor, Kinley, and Ryan.
Myrtle received her education in the Novinger School. She was employed by National Lock, operated a truck stop in Bloomfield, IA, and worked in the restaurant business in the Green City and Bloomfield areas. She lived most her life in the Collinsville and Novinger areas, with her last 18 years being spent in Glenwood. Myrtle enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening. More than anything though, she lived for her kids and being a mom. Myrtle was a wonderful grandmother, always enjoyed helping people and will be greatly missed.

Public visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday—March 24, 2014, at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

A graveside service, with Pastor Alan Coonfield officiating, will be held at 2:30 p.m. following the visitation on Monday in the Green Castle Cemetery at Green Castle, Missouri.
