Regina Martin Botkins

Regina M. Botkins, 97, passed away peacefully Dec. 28, 2014 at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO where she had been a resident since May 2013.

She was born Oct. 23, 1917, one of eleven children of Franklin Edgar and Maude Blanch (Minear) Martin. On Oct. 6, 1938 she was united in marriage to Earl Botkins and he preceded her in death on May 13, 1990.

Regina is survived by a daughter, Ella May Dingledine of Peoria, Ill., one grandson “Butchie” and one granddaughter, Joanie Dingledine, both from Peoria, Ill., one great-grandson, Drew, nephews and nieces.

She worked at Sears in Quincy, Ill. for many years before moving to Kirksville.

She was an avid reader and liked all kinds of books. When she lost her eyesight she enjoyed the reader books for the blind.

She was preceded in death in addition to her husband, Earl, her parents, four brothers Melvin Martin in 1974, Orville Martin in 1983, Minor Martin in 1999, and Rex Martin in infancy; six sisters, Mary Barker in 1957, Bertha Myers in 1975, Marjie Myers in 1993, Luila Ditmars Sykes in 1985, Rosalee Lancaster in 1995 and Stella in infancy.

As she wished, she has been cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Services are under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
