Richard Lee "Dick" Lowrance

-

A voice of N.E. Missouri has been silenced. Richard Lowrance “Polo” passed away October 27, 2014, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Born September 9, 1941, the son of Russell and Marie (Smith) Lowrance, he was born in Kirksville, Missouri.

Dick is survived by his children, Michael, Kevin, and Shane Lowrance, Tina Curtis; six grandchildren, Hannah, Alexis, Sela and Hoyt Lowrance and Shana and Ethan Curtis and one sister, Joyce Sherrod and one niece and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Polo had an early career of a DJ on local radio, managed the “Red Blazers” of Kirksville and could still spew statistics about 50’s & 60’s recording artists. He provided sound equipment at local fairs and events and made announcements.

Arrangements were taken care of by Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, and a private memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions in memory of Dick Lowrance may be made to the Lewis County Fair. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

So sorry to hear of Dick's passing. Was part of the Red Blazers in the early 60's and lived next door to Dick for a while. He was always a joy to be around. Although have not seen him in many years, he will be missed.
