Brian Alfred Carter, 55, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at his home.

The son of John Walter and Dorothy Mae (Davis) Carter, he was born January 8, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois. On November 26, 1984 in Kirksville, Missouri, Brian was united in marriage to Cindy Machetta and to this union, two children were born.

Brian is survived by his mother, Dorothy Carter of Chicago, IL; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Michelle and Taylor Bartlett of Columbia, MO, Mollie (Whitehead) and Christian Cooley of Kansas City, MO, and Echo Adhikari of Columbia, MO; one son, Michael Whitehead of Hurdland, MO; three brothers, Robert Reno, Vincent Carter and John Carter all of Chicago, IL; three sisters, Sandra Watkins of Buffalo, N.Y., Patricia Carter of Chicago, IL and Gwendolyn Carter of Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren, Bridget and Braden Bartlett, Blaze, Riley, Asher, Levi and Ester Whitehead, Anjali Adhikari, and Regan Cooley, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Evan Royce Carter.

Brian was a graduate from George Washington Carver High School in Downer Grove, IL with the Class of 1977. From 1979 to 1982, Brian attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri. While attending NMSU, Brian was employed for Bonfoey Inn. At the time of his death, Brian had been employed as a supervisor twenty-eight years for the City of Kirksville Water Treatment Plant.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Curtis Ferguson officiating. Family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Interment will be held at a later date at Homewood Garden Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.
