Anna “Lucille” (Peterson) Drury, 89, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (January 24, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Ivan and Mattie (Wayman) Peterson, she was born February 24, 1924 near Greentop, Missouri. On March 27, 1942 in Kirksville, Missouri, Lucille was united in marriage to David “Neal” Drury who preceded her in death on January 3, 2003.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sons, David, Robert, Ronald and Gerald Drury; one daughter, Linda Lay; four brothers, Kenneth, Allen, Sherman Lee, and one in infancy; one sister, Maude Maples and two brothers-in-law, Elmer Maples and Harley Helton.

Lucille is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jim Conner of Kirksville, MO; one sister, Joan Helton of Kirksville, MO; two sisters-in-law, Reta Peterson of Kirksville, MO, and Shirley Peterson of Bettendorf, IA; son-in-law, Paul Lay of Greentop, MO; daughter-in-law, Marsha Drury of Greentop, MO; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and four great great- grandchildren.

Lucille was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1941. She and her husband Neal owned and operated Drury Feed & Produce from 1953 to 1994 until retiring and selling their business. They loved traveling and spent thirty-five winters in Texas.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday (January 28, 2014) in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow visitation on Tuesday (January 28, 2014) at 7:00 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Sheila Swafford officiating. Music selections “Precious Memories” and “Amazing Grace” will be provided by Melodie Sevits who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Private graveside services will take place at a later date at Yarrow Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lucille Drury may be made to the LaPlata Nursing Home Therapy Department. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
