Opal Faye (Davis) Bly, 67, of Kirksville, Missouri. passed away Friday (September 20, 2013) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, following a brief illness.

The daughter of Alonzo and Callie (Tyner) Davis, she was born March 4, 1946 in Darden, Tennessee.

Opal is survived by her father, Alonzo Davis of East Prairie, MO; one son, Tommy Bratcher of Kirksville, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Larry Gibson of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Jeremiah Gibson, and Michelle Gibson, both of Kirksville, MO, Matthew Gibson and wife Jessica of Bolivar, MO and Daniel Gibson of Kirksville, MO; two grandsons of the heart, Matthew and Keaton Youngman; half brother, David Davis of St. Louis, MO; half sister, Kathy Hearty of Cahokia, IL; three nieces; one nephew and her best friend Cheryl VanHoose.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Kelly and Norman Warner; one son, Terry Bratcher; one sister, Wanda Ambruster, and her half brother, Stephen Davis.

Opal was raised and received her education in Darden, Tennessee. She later attended St. Louis Community College. In 1999, Opal moved to Kirksville, Missouri, to make her home and was employed for Days Inn, Pancake City and retired from Ponderosa in 2008.

She loved flower gardening and spending time with her family. She adorded her grandchildren and will be sadly missed.

Opal was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Kirksville.

It was Opal’s wish to be cremated and a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday (September 24, 2013) at the Fellowship Baptist Church with her son-in-law officiating. Family will receive friends prior the service for one half hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church Youth Fund. Memorials may be left at the Church on Tuesday (September 24, 2013).

Arrangements were taken care of by Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
