Everett Lee Farr, 86, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (July 19, 2013) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Everett was born October 21, 1926 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Tony and Nellie (Darr) Farr. On June 14, 1947 in Memphis, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Lila Mae Steele and to that marriage one daughter was born, Linda Joyce.

Everett is survived by his daughter, Linda Frazee, of Kirksville, MO; his granddaughter, Jodi Lynn Frazee of Longmont, CO; sister-in-laws, Anna Waldron of Bella Vista, AR, and Willa and Don Funk of Scottsdale, AZ; nieces, nephews, cousins, a multitude of friends, and his faithful cat Friskie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lila of 64 years on April 16, 2012, his son-in-law, Bill Frazee, on February 26, 2013, his brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Isabelle Darr, and brother-in-law, Kay Waldron.

Everett lived all his life in Adair County, attended Salisbury and Radical Ridge Rural Schools and graduated from Kirksville High School in 1944. He worked various jobs before starting his career with Missouri Power & Light (now AmerenMO) in 1951. He was a ground wench operator and was known for his work ethics and how clean and organized he kept his truck. He retired in 1989 and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement.

Everett loved the outdoors-hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending many hours at the farm every day in his gator, until his health failed. He and Lila enjoyed spending time at their cabin, fishing and gardening. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. They enjoyed traveling, mainly to South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana to visit family and then to Colorado to visit Jodi, his precious granddaughter. Everett also had a tremendous love of animals, his dogs, Bo and Tonto, his cats, Webster and now Friskie, and all wildlife.

Everett will be sadly missed, but never forgotten by his family and friends.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Kirksville Lodge #105, AF & AM, Caldwell Chapter No. 53, Kirksville Council No. 44, Ely Commander No. 22, El Kadir Shrine Club where he served on the Wild Turkey Days Committee for 25 years, Moila Shrine Temple, and Loyal Order of the Moose #1751.

Public visitation will be held Thursday (July 25, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Masonic service will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday (July 26, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Richard Northcutt officiating. Music selections, “Shall We Gather at the River” and “One Day at a Time” will be provided by Mandy Wiedeman who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Danny Coin, Craig Shorten, Greg Guffey, Paul Fowler, Steve Howerton and Pat Kriegshauser. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Keim, Bobby Joe Smith, Ronald K. Weber, Donnie O’Haver, Dr. James D. Smith, Ed Coin, Donnie Waybill, Bill Treasure, Neil Travis and Ron Watson.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Everett Farr may be made to First United Methodist Church or Adair County Humane Society. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
