Richard Mathes Williams, 96, of Nixa, Missouri, formerly of Connelsville, Missouri, passed away Monday (June 10, 2013) at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

The son of Buel and Della (Campbell) Williams, he was born October 9, 1916 in Green Castle, Missouri. On June 26, 1941 in Gifford, Missouri, Richard was united in marriage to Anna Margaret Boen who preceded him in death on October 22, 2006.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rick Williams; one grandson, Matt Williams; one brother, Adrian Williams and one sister, Marie Mock.

Richard is survived by one sister, Lora Kittle and husband Lee of Kirksville, MO; his granddaughter, Sara Eudy and husband, Brad of Ludowici, GA, as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Richard lived his entire married life in Connelsville, Missouri, and worked as a coal miner in the Novinger and Connelsville area until the mines closed. He then worked as a mechanic for the Adair County Road and Bridge Department and Peterson Chevrolet until retiring.

He enjoyed working in his yard and garden, tinkering with motors and deer hunting with Rick and Matt.

Richard was a member of the Connelsville Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (June 15, 2013) with family receiving friends one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor Alan Coonfield will officiate the service and interment will follow at Pratt Cemetery

Pallbearers will be Dustin Bowen, Shannon Bowen, David Kittle, Michael Kittle, Dakota Kittle and Jamie Kittle.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Richard Williams may be made to the Pratt Cemetery. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
