Juanita H. (Bookout) Ferrell, 80, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (May 15, 2013) at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.

The daughter of John Henry and Warda Hazel (Pherigo) Bookout, she was born June 23, 1932 in Green City, Missouri. On June 19, 1948 in Kirksville, Missouri, Juanita was united in marriage to Edwin D. Ferrell who preceded her in death on December 2, 1993.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dale Ferrell; two sisters, Betty Rogers and Mary in infancy, and two brothers, Winifred and James Bookout.

Juanita is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Larry King of Keokuk, IA; her daughter-in-law, Maggie Ferrell of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Bryan Ferrell, Nathan Ferrell and fiancée, Christina Purdin, Mike Peterson and wife Angie, Terri Maas and husband Steve; six great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one step granddaughter, Mindy Gimble and husband, George; two step great grandchildren; one sister, JoAnn Ostino and husband James of Numa, IA and her sister-in-law, Fern Bookout of Newton, IA.

Juanita received her education in the Green City public schools. She was employed a number of years at Lamberts Glove Factory until going to work for Rogers Coal Service where she worked several years. Juanita was last co-owner along side of her husband Ed thirty years for their business (Ed’s Trucking) until retiring in 1999.

Her hobbies included reading, camping and bird watching.

Juanita was a member of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church, and past member of V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary of Kirksville.

Juanita has been cremated and a memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (June 1, 2013) at Hamilton Street Baptist Church in Kirksville, with family receiving friends one hour before the service.

Private family interment will be at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Juanita Ferrell may be made to the Highland Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left at Hamilton Street Baptist Church or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
