Charles Alan Powell, 68, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (November 15, 2013) at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

The son of William and Leantha (Peebles) Powell Jr., he was born May 22, 1945 in Kirksville, MO.

Charles is survived by two brothers, James C. Powell of Roscoe, IL and W.M. Edward Powell of North Little Rock, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Sandra McMahon and one brother, John Paul Powell.

Charles graduated from Rockford High School in Rockford, Illinois, with the Class of 1963 where he wrestled, played football, and played in the high school marching band. He attended and received his BS at Truman State University in Kirksville, a two time All American in Wrestling at Illinois State. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In 1972, Charles returned to Kirksville, to make his home and was involved in many different associations helping others less fortunate than himself. He was last employed as manager at Kum & Go in Kirksville.

It was Charles’s wish to be cremated and no service will be held.
