Monta Lavern Vice Sr., 72, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (October 25, 2013) at Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville, MO.

The son of Delbert Gano and Lily Fern (Rusk) Vice, he was born February 28, 1941 in Pure Air, Missouri.

Monta is survived by his son, Monta Lavern Vice Jr. of Kirksville, MO; two daughters, Lisa Sallee of Kirksville, MO and Carol Ann Vice of Keokuk, IA; one sister, Eva States of Carthage, MO; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Vice and three sisters, Bonnie Kirkpatrick, Neva Haley and one in infancy.

Monta resided in Adair County his entire life and graduated from Novinger High School. He was a heavy equipment operator in construction for a number of years.

He enjoyed fishing, stock cars, working in his shop and working with tractors.

Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday (October 29, 2013) at Pratt Cemetery, southwest of Novinger, with Pastor Virgil Jones presiding.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday (October 29, 2013) from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Monta Vice Jr., Mike Sallee, Eric Vice and Sherman Shoemaker.
