Marvin Layne Seward

Marvin Layne Seward, 56, of Wildwood, Missouri, finished his walk of life on October 20, 2013, when he went peacefully to be with his Lord.
He was born on September 11, 1957 in Kirksville, Missouri, to Charles F. Seward and Wilda L. (Daniel) Seward. He was married to Eileen M. Houlahan on April 4, 1987. Bridget Morgan Seward, his cherished daughter, was born to this union. He is survived by his parents, Eileen and Bridget Seward, a sister, Joy L. Wilson and husband Lance Wilson and their son, Duncan.
Marvin received his high school education at Ashland High School in Ashland, Missouri, with the Class of 1976. He began his 28 year career in cable television as a technician in Columbia, MO for Group W. Cable where he was selected technician of the year in 1985. He later moved to Chicago, IL to work for American Cable. While working there he was honored by being selected the best technician in the greater Chicago area. In 1988 he took a job as manager of Cass Cable Company near Springfield, IL. In 2002 he was hired by the Columbia Power and Water Company in Columbia, TN to oversee the building of a broadband division for them. After getting that system up and running he took a job with New Wave Communications. He was district manager in the southern area of Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky. In 2006 he had to resign his position due to failing health. It was one of his saddest days because he loved his work. Marvin was well known and respected by his fellow cable employees through out the Midwest.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (October 23, 2013) at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (October 23, 2013) at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 716 E. Washington St. in Kirksville, with Father Chris Cordes presiding. Interment will follow Mass at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, MO.
