Myrl D. Ferguson, 81, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away Sunday (January 27, 2013) at the LaPlata Nursing Home in LaPlata, Missouri.

Born March 24, 1931 in Adair County, Missouri, Myrl was the son of Wayne and Iva (Dodsworth) Ferguson. On May 18, 1952 in Kirksville, Myrl was united in marriage to Betty Lou Alger who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Myrl is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robin and Sheryl Ferguson of LaPlata, MO and Danny and Darlene Ferguson of Howey in the Hills, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Pat Ferguson of Nixa, MO; nine grandchildren, Daniel Ferguson and wife Sarah, Leanne Davis, Dustin Ferguson and wife Rachel, Skee Ferguson and wife Kayla, Shaylee Ferguson, Layla Ferguson, Britney Athon, Danielle Sabrio, and Alex Sabio; four great-grandchildren, Hayden and Tanner Ferguson, Nolan Davis and Emma Athon, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Myrl lived his entire life in Adair County. Myrl graduated from Brashear High School in 1949. He then went to work farming and later dozing which he continued to do for twenty-five years. In 1968 he traded his farm for a Salvage Yard, which he ran with his sons Robin and Danny. Myrl and Robin operated Ferguson Auto Parts together for twenty years. In 1986, Myrl was elected Adair County Commissioner and served tw-o terms. He then went back to dozing part time while also helping his wife run their dog kennel.

Myrl loved race cars, hunting, fishing and later restoring antiques that Betty would bring home from auctions.

Myrl was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of El Kadir Shrine Club.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday (January 30, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Ralph Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday (January 30, 2013) before the service, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Robin Ferguson, Danny Ferguson, Emmett James, Milton Armstrong, Steve Jacobs and Nick Payton.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Myrl Ferguson may be made to the LaPlata Nursing Home. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
