Richard Dennis Baier, 93, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday (August 20, 2012) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

The son of Edward and Marguerite (Lyckberg) Baier, he was born August 26, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois. On August 28, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois, Richard was united in marriage to Palmeta Jean Formento.

Richard is survived by his wife Palmeta of fifty-three years; one daughter, Carol Baier of San Diego, CA; one sister, Lorraine Nyman of Elk Grove Village, IL; one niece and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard was raised in Chicago, Illinois, where he was a graduate from DePaul Academy. Richard resided in Chicago until retiring in 1979. At that time he and Palmeta moved to Kirksville, Missouri, to make their home.

Richard loved classical music, opera and wood working.

He was a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (August 22, 2012) at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville, with Father Chris Cordes presiding. Interment will follow Mass at Novinger Cemetery in Novinger, Missouri.

Family will receive friends Wednesday (August 22, 2012) one hour before Mass in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
