Virkita Jean Fleshner, 66, of Caulfield, Missouri, formerly of Greentop, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday (July 21, 2012) at her home.

The daughter of Harold Everett and Kathryn Anna (Woodruff) Feist, she was born August 27, 1945 in Decatur, Illinois. On June 4, 1962 Virkita married William Elder who preceded her in death in 1967. In 1969 she married Rex Fleshner.

Virkita is survived by four sons, Ted Elder and wife Marla of Greentop, MO, Ed Elder of Downing, MO, Fred Elder and wife Lisa of Greentop, MO and J.J. Fleshner and fiancée Tonya Bradley of Baring, MO; one sister, Pat Stone of Carrollton, IL; twelve grandchildren, Micheal Robinson, Sasha Robinson, Sarah Elder, Dakota Elder, Charlie Elder, Kendra Montgomery, Angel Willard, Jamie Elder, Virkita Elder, Keenan Bradley, McKaela Bradley and Kilee Bradley; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Charlene and two brothers-in-law, Jim Stone and Jim Howell.

Virkita received her education in Illinois. In 1969, she moved to Northeast Missouri, residing mostly in Queen City and Greentop. Virkita was employed a number of years for Westerns Meat Market. She worked five years for Jackson Brother’s Vending in Kirksville, until retiring. In 2004, she moved to Caulfield, Missouri, to the Cloud 9 Ranch Camp Ground where she worked weekend’s dog and cat sitting and serving as the camp ground host.

Virkita enjoyed crocheting, yard sales and dancing.

Funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday (July 25, 2012) with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor Raymond Magruder will officiate the service.

Interment will be held Thursday (July 26, 2012) at the Campfield Cemetery in Sullivan, Illinois.
