Mary Ann Schonert, 70, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday (July 10, 2012) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Bert Herman and Gladys Mary (Hickey) Garwood, she was born December 20, 1941 in Kirksville, Missouri. On May 3, 1958 in Kirksville, Missouri, Mary was united in marriage to Larry Schonert.

Mary is survived by her husband Larry of fifty-four years; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry Dean and Lily Schonert Jr. of St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Doris Lincke of White Bear Lake, MN; one brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Jenette Garwood of Blaine, MN; one sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Ray Tritton of FL; four grandchildren, Jessica Pearson, Rachael Pearson, Josh Schonert and Justin Conkin; three great-grandchildren, Lydia Pearson, Lucy Pearson and Kolby Conkin; best friend, Ruth Percefull; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Elaine Schonert; sister-in-laws, Linda Pruett and Emma Garwood; niece, Paula Koons and husband Jim; great-niece, Tiffany Koons, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary was resided in Hammond, Indiana, until moving to Kirksville, in 1968. She attended school at Hammond Tech High School. In 1979, Mary graduated from LPN school at Kirksville Vo-Tech. She then worked a few years in Minnesota before returning to Kirksville. Mary then worked for KOH Hospital until going to work for Twin Pines Nursing Home where she was employed eighteen years until retiring in 1998.

Mary enjoyed reading, playing board games, camping, shopping, canning, gardening, and she loved her tea time.

She was a devoted wife and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mary was a member of Women of the Moose and of the Kirksville Church of the Nazarene, which she was very active in the Senior group.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday (July 13, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Mark Hager officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Friday (July 13, 2012) one hour before service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Josh Schonert, Jim Koons, Luke Cowan, Eric Moots, Dick Taylor and Lyan Cameran.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mary Schonert may be made to the Kirksville Church of the Nazarene. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
