Floyd Gurden Tague

Floyd Gurden Tague, 93, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday (June 14, 2012) at his home under Hospice care and with his family by his side.

The son of Henry Albert and Ethel Maude (Smith) Tague, he was born January 24, 1919 in Gorin, Missouri. On March 16, 1941 in Gorin, Floyd was united in marriage to Gladys Savage who preceded him in death on May 26, 2010, after sixty nine years of marriage.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Olen and Earl Tague; one grandson, Kurt Alan Brown on July 6, 2000; one great-grandson, Brandon Scott Rogers in infancy; one sister-in-law, Lucille Tague, and two brothers-in-law, Chester McKinney and Keith Strandberg.

Floyd is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gurden and Dana Tague of Kirksville, MO; one daughter, Linda Marilyn Brown of Kirksville, MO; two sisters, Dorothy Seguin of Weslaco, TX and Callie Strandberg of Liberal, KS; five grandchildren, Doug Brown of Memphis, MO, Craig Brown of Kirksville, MO, Lisa Rogers and Lance of O’Fallon, MO, Jeff Tague and Candice of Kirksville, MO and Danielle Lundberg of New York, N.Y.; one granddaughter-in-law, Donna Brown of LaPlata, MO; sixteen grandchildren; one great great- granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Doris Day of Gorin, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Floyd lived most of his life in Gorin, Missouri, where he was engaged in farming and construction work until retiring in 1979. He then moved to Memphis, Missouri, where he resided until moving to Kirksville in 2010.

Floyd’s passion in life was flying, riding motorcycles, playing baseball, softball, trap shooting and bowling, at which he was very accomplished.

Floyd accepted Jesus as his savior and loved fellowship with his family and friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Memphis.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday (June 18, 2012) at the First Baptist Church in Memphis, Missouri, with family receiving friends one hour before the service. Pastor Dan Hite will officiate the service. Interment will follow the service at Gorin Cemetery in Gorin.

Pallbearers will be Doug Brown, Craig Brown, Jeff Tague, Dale Tague, Zack Brown and Colby Brown.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Floyd Tague may be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri or to the Gorin Cemetery Association. Memorials may be left at the First Baptist Church on Monday or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO.
