Viola Ann Craig, 90, of Green City, Missouri, passed away Sunday (April 1, 2012) at her daughter’s home at Green Castle, Missouri.

Born May 28, 1921 in Adair County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Charles and Goldie Ann (Truitt) Stone. On May 27, 1938 in Kirksville, Missouri, Viola was united in marriage to Henry Berl Craig who preceded her in death on November 3, 2003.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Craig; one brother, Gail Stone and one granddaughter, Jennifer Treadway.

Viola is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Kenneth Hill and Joann and Gailon Anderson all of Green Castle, MO; one brother-in-law, Clifford Craig of Ohio; four sisters-in-law, Jean Nihiser of Mexico, MO, June Kilgore of Winigan, MO, Pat Craig of Green Castle, MO and Vera Fox of Greentop, MO; four grandchildren, Mikel Hill, Mark (Alice) Hill, Rob (Carla) Guffey and Rick Guffey; ten great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very dear friends, Joyce Buckner and James Crouse.

Viola received her education in the West Elm rural school. She was happiest when she was with her family and friends. Viola enjoyed country music, gardening, sewing, and was noted for her home made noodles for all family events. She also made her whole family homemade quilts by hand.

Viola attended the Assembly of God Church until her health began to fail.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday (April 4, 2012) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Mark Hill, Rob Guffey, Rick Guffey, Craig Hill, Nathan Hill and Tyler Clark. Honorary bearers will be Spike Daniels, Mike Hill, Chad Hill, Gary Jones, Herman Truitt and Jim Crouse.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday (April 5, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Reverend Alan Coonfield officiating. Interment will follow the service at Cheesman Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri.
