Dorothy Agnes (Thorpe) Spangler, 96, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (December 4, 2012) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Herman E. and Blanche Marie (Menndenhall) Thorpe, she was born January 23, 1916 in Sullivan County, near Milan, Missouri. On October 9, 1948 in Kirksville, Missouri, Dorothy was united in marriage to Exal Spangler who preceded her in death on November 30, 2002, after fifty-four years of marriage.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Dorothy is survived by one sister, Eunice Trent of Portland, OR; two nieces, Judy Siemssen and husband, Rick of Portland, OR and Donna Hill and husband Jerry of Kansas City, MO; two great nieces, Aimee Stevenson and Christa Bradford,two great nephews, Caleb and Kennedy and her brother-in-law, Dwayne Spangler and wife Catherine of Kirksville, MO.

Dorothy grew up in the Maggart Community and worked in Quincy, IL; Chillicothe, MO; and was employed twenty-two years for McGraw Edison Company in Kirksville.

Dorothy gave her life to Christ at a young age and had been faithful to God and His work. Her favorite missionary work was giving to those who furnish Bibles to many countries.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday (December 8, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Reverend David Strong presiding. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Saturday (December 8, 2012) for one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.
