Margie F. (Jones) Sanford, 86, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Monday (December 17, 2012) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center where she had been a patient since November 23.

Born March 26, 1926 near Pure Air, she was the daughter of Ora Otto and Opal Luetta (Carnagey) Jones. On June 18, 1943 in Camp White, Oregon, she married Ellis L. Sanford who survives.

Margie is also survived by a daughter, Carolyn Sue and husband Larry Joe McCarty of Green City, MO; a son, Richard Sanford and wife Cheryl of Novinger, MO; a sister, Maxine Golden of Edina, MO; two sisters-in-law, Francis Jones and Jackie Jones; five grandchildren, Corey Sanford and wife Sondra, Curtis Sanford, Rhonda Coy and husband Jeff, Veronica Pickett and husband Thad, Melissa Ellis and husband Steve and four great-grandchildren, Blake and Monica Pickett and Casey and Sidney Coy, as well as three step great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Alex Harrell and Madalyn Ellis and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1952, her mother in 1967 and two brothers, Gerald L. in 2002 and Jewel E. in 2008.

Margie did house cleaning, maid work in Ryle Hall for two years and worked at Gibson and Pamida Stores seventeen years until retiring in 1988. She was an accomplished seamstress, making most of her families clothing for years.

Margie was a member of the Novinger Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School Class for many years. She enjoyed being with her family, her church friends and neighbors. She enjoyed music, traveling and one day outings.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday (December 20, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Darrell Crooks officiating. Interment will follow the service at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri.

Family will receive friends on Thursday (December 20, 2012) one hour before service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Steve Roberts, Corey Sanford, Curtis Sanford, Jeff Coy, Thad Pickett and Steve Ellis. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Pickett, Casey Coy, Sidney Coy and Nick Harrell.
