Bertha Juanita (Williams) Anderson, 99, of Green Castle, Missouri, passed away Saturday (December 15, 2012) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The daughter of Jesse and Wardie F. (Beck) Williams, she was born March 6, 1913 in Green Castle, Missouri. On June 29, 1937 in Huntsville, Missouri, Bertha was united in marriage to Charles Stage Anderson, who preceded her in death on July 9, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Loyal Dale Anderson, and nine brothers and sisters.
Bertha is survived by one son, Lyle Anderson of Kirksville, MO; two brothers, Kenneth Williams and Walter Gail Williams both of Iowa; daughter-in-law, Donna Anderson of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Christina Morris and husband Scott, Paula Vanrie and husband Troy, Nathan Anderson and wife Amanda and Kora Anderson, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Venessa Vanrie, Miranda Vanrie, Zack Vanrie, Emily Vanrie, Taylor Anderson, Ben Anderson and Morgan Anderson.
Bertha was a lifelong resident of Green Castle and received her education in the Liberty rural school. She was employed as a cook for Novinger R-I School and at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville. For a number of years Bertha was a babysitter for many children she loved and cared for. Bertha also enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.
Bertha loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She had attended the Methodist Church in Green Castle, Missouri.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday (December 18, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Chaplain Carol Davenport officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle.
Family will receive friends Tuesday (December 18, 2012) one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Floyd Williams, Garry Claybrook, Gail Claybrook, Ken Olson, Nathan Anderson and Troy Vanrie.
