Jane (Bailey) Muir, 89, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (October 10, 2012) at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

Born June 20, 1923 in Sullivan County, Missouri, Jane was the daughter of Vernie Leroy and Enid Allie (Romine) Bailey. On August 20, 1949 in Kirksville, Missouri, Jane was united in marriage to Shannon Dean Muir who preceded her in death on August 25. 2001.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Johnnie Jackson Jr. of Kirksville, MO; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sandra Kay Muir of Kirksville, MO; two sisters, Cora Richardson of Villa Rica, GA and Win Hinton of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Whitney Morton, Sara Muir, DeNeta Homer and Eric Jackson and wife Lona; five great-grandchildren, Tayler Morton, Rowdy Jackson, Wyatt Homer, Dylan Homer and Roni Jo Jackson, as well as three nephews.

Jane lived most of her life in Adair County, graduated from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1942 and went on to receive her teaching degree at Kirksville State Teachers College. She was a very devoted teacher who loved teaching a total of thirty-three years at Ashland Missouri Public School, at Willow Branch, at Ethel public school a number of years, at Mt. Zion three years and last at Kirksville public schools until retiring in 1990.

Jane will be remembered for having a heart of gold, for she would help anyone in need. Her family will remember Jane for being a great wife, mother and grandmother who loved cooking great family dinners. Throughout the years, Jane’s wonderful cooking was enjoyed by many.

She was a member of Delta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Kirksville Area Retired Teachers, Who’s Who among America’s Teachers and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday (October 14, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Glen Archer presiding. Music will be provided by Twila Jones who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Interment will follow the service at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Sunday (October 14, 2012) from 1:30 to service time at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Joe Hinton, John Hinton, Frank Richardson Jr., Donnie Yantis, Bobby Wallace and Darrell Wallace.
