Isabel “Isy” Hays, 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday (September 8, 2011) at the LaPlata Nursing Home in LaPlata, MO.

The daughter of Gilbert C. and Dora M. (Morgan) Mossberger, she was born March 23, 1924 in Garden Grove, Iowa. On April 18, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa, Isabel was united in marriage to Elmer Leon Hays who preceded her in death on January 12, 2010.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Hays, three brothers, Robert, Samuel and Gerald Mossberger and two sisters, Virginia Rash and Katie Murr.

Isy is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Barb Hays of Rock Island, IL; her daughter-in-law, Linda Hays and special friend, Ron Kiger of LaPlata, MO; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Isy was a graduate from the Gifford High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed camping, crocheting, gardening, flowers, and working in her yard. While her husband was a trucker, Isy enjoyed traveling in his big truck and her handle was tag along. Isy also worked ten years in the Kirksville High School cafeteria.

Isy was a strong believer in God, loved her family and friends and will be sadly missed.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday (September 12, 2011) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Interment will follow the service at Parkview Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends one hour before the service on Monday (September 12, 2011) in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Hays, Tom Hays Jr., Todd Hays, James Ralston, Larry Lowe and Ron Kiger.
