Shane William Ferguson, 11, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Friday (September 30, 2011) at his home.

The son of Paul Edward and Ann Marie (McCoy) Ferguson, he was born July 10, 2000 in Macon, Missouri.

Shane is survived by his parents Paul Ferguson of Hallsville, MO and Ann Ferguson of Kirksville, MO; grandparents, Donald and Carol McCoy of Kirksville, MO; two half brothers, Anthony Ferguson and wife Michelle of Macon, MO and Andrew Ferguson of Columbia, MO; three uncles, Walter Ferguson of Jackson, TN, Sam Ferguson and wife June of Williamsburg, MO and Shawn McCoy and wife Misty of Columbia, MO; one aunt, Mary Farnham and husband Larry of Blue Springs, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his sister, Allison Nikole Pfeiffer in 2008.

Shane was a sixth grader at Mary Immaculate Catholic School in Kirksville, where he was a member of the Cross Country team. He was also member of Boy Scout Troop 401, loved playing basketball, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

He was a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday (October 4, 2011) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with a liturgical vigil service held at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (October 5, 2011) at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church with Father Chris Cordes presiding. Interment will follow the service at Mary Immaculate Catholic Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Walter Ferguson, Sam Ferguson, Larry Farnham, Mathew Tornatore, Dan Lammers and Jim McCormick. Honorary Pallbearers will be friends from his Boy Scout Troop 401 and his sixth grade classmates.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Shane may be made to Boy Scout Troop 401 or to the Kirksville Food Bank (food can be left at the funeral home). Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
