Maggie Ellen Yowell, 92, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday (August 7, 2011) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Bennett and Helen (Dooley) Brummit, she was born May 2, 1919 in Unionville, Missouri. On July 1, 1950 in Kirksville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Roy F. Yowell who preceded her in death on February 2, 2006.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Alta Bartlett, Edna Brummit and Helen Brummit in infancy as well as four brothers, John Wesley, James and William Brummit.

Maggie is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn and Steve Jacobs and Marolyn Yowell all of Kirksville, MO; one sister-in-law, Willadean Brummit of Kirksville, MO; two grandchildren, Stephanie Michaels of Des Moines, IA and Ryan Jacobs of Kirksville, MO; one great-grandson, Paul Michaels of Des Moines, IA as well as a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Maggie was employed in the food service department at the Kirksville public schools from 1967 to 1982, when she then retired.

Her hobbies included sewing, reading, crocheting and cooking.

Maggie had a great love for her daughters and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.

Maggie attended the First Christian Church of Kirksville, where she was active in resident’s council and Tuesday morning Bible Study. She was a past member of the Porter Extension Club.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (August 9, 2011) with family receiving friends one hour before service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Her service will be officiated by Reverend Steve McDuff. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be S. Michael Brummit, Michael Brummit, Randy Brummit, John Brummit, James Brummit and David Jacobs.
