Phyllis Deanna Brown, 70, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (August 5, 2011) at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Jack and Ruth Elizabeth (Medley) Love, she was born November 29, 1940 in Kirksville, Missouri. On November 20, 1960 in Millard, Missouri, Phyllis was united in marriage to Vernon Keith Brown who preceded her in death on October 10, 1997.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lois and Irene and one brother, Loren.

Phyllis is survived by four nieces including Rebecca Jeffries and husband Art of Queen City, MO; brother-in-law, Ricky Brown and wife Denise of Gibbs, MO; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Collins of Kirksville, MO, and Wilma Love of San Antonio, TX; great-nieces, including Traci Walker of Stockton, MO and Christina Teter of Macon, MO and one great- great niece and nephew.

Phyllis was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1958 and attended two years of college at the Kirksville State Teachers College. She resided most of her life on a farm in the Millard area where she worked along side her husband farming. She was also employed with the Selective Service System in Kirksville until it’s closing in 1976. For the following ten years, Phyllis was employed for the Kirksville Daily Express. In 1973, she went to work for Ayerco where she was employed until her retirement in 2005.

Phyllis loved flowers, number puzzles, reading, watching sports on television and was a volunteer for Twin Pines Adult Care Center.

She was a member of Church of God-Holiness in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday (August 10, 2011) with family receiving friends one hour before service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor William Hayton and Pastor Kevin Allred will officiate the service. Interment will follow the service at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Davis, Craig Kilmer, Justin Graham, Gary Coy, Doug Clarkson and Bud Niccum.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Phyllis may be made to the Church of God-Holiness. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
