Agnes (Luken) Klokkenga, 92, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away peacefully at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, on July 30, 2011.

The daughter of Edward J. and Lena Hellmann Luken she was born October 11, 1918 in rural Hartsburg, Illinois. On February 22, 1941 in Emden, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Earnest A. Klokkenga who survives.

Agnes is also survived by five sons, Gerald and wife Carol of Chillicothe, IL, Steve of Greentop, MO, Merlyn and wife Cathy of Sioux Falls, S.D., Greg (her primary caregiver) of Novinger, MO, and Victor of Roberts, WI. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Darla Crane, Carla Blount, Chandra Klokkenga and Melissa Beck; four step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, Tony Crane, Forrest Blount, Shawn Hamilton, Ryan Beck, Maggie Beck, Brock Beck and Grace Beck; one great great grandson, Alexander Crane; one sister, Erna Jane Post of Normal, IL, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and special caregivers Erica Gardner and Tanya Bland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and three sisters; one daughter-in-law, Susan “Sue” Klokkenga, and one grandson Ray Blount.

Agnes was raised in Illinois and lived there until 1952 when she and her husband moved to their farm near Novinger, Missouri. She worked for McGraw-Edison/Toastmaster until she retired. She then purchased a rug loom and made many beautiful hand made rag rugs. Agnes also made many hand crafted articles.

Visitation will be held Wednesday (August 3, 2011) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday (August 4, 2011) at Faith Lutheran Church in Kirksville, with Pastor David Lukefahr officiating and Pastor Richard Schlueter assisting. Interment will follow the service at the Greentop Cemetery in Greentop, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Beck, Forrest Blount, Tony Crane, Shawn Hamilton, Brian Eichorn, Mike Crane and Ryan Snider.

Memorial contributions in memory of Agnes may be made to the donor’s choice. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
