Phyllis Ann Scott, 73, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (July 26, 2011) at her home.

The daughter of Henry and Elva Leota (Truitt) Moots, she was born July 11, 1938 in Adair County, Missouri. On June 26, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Leroy Martin Scott who preceded her in death on July 12, 2009.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Phyllis is survived by one son, Danny Leroy Scott of Kirksville, MO; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Teresa Kay and David Chuber of Falcon, MO, Darla Lee and Richard Hamilton of Perry, FL and Kimberly Ann Littlejohn of Liberty, MO; one brother, William Moots of Hahira, GA; one brother-in-law Gayle Scott and wife Elaine of Novinger, MO and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Drury of Kirksville, MO. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, April Tarranella, Jeremy Jones and Leea Jones all of Kansas City, MO, Billy Scott of Kirksville, MO, Ashlea Dugan of PA, Tonya Hamilton of FL and Isabel and Nicolas Littlejohn both of Liberty, MO as well as eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis received her education in the Novinger public schools. She had a great love for children and did baby sitting in her home a number of years. Her hobbies included shopping, crocheting, sewing and talking on the cell phone.

She loved spending time with her family and will be remembered for the love and care she provided her grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout the years.

Public visitation will be held Friday (July 29, 2011) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday (July 30, 2011) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Glen Moots presiding. Interment will follow the service at New Harmony Cemetery west of Greentop, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be George Moots, Frances Moots, Jerry Liechty, Jim Moots, Roger Speak and Bryan Dugan.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Phyllis may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
