Horace Roger Hill, 79, of Novinger, Missouri, died unexpectedly, Tuesday (December 27, 2011) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

He was born July 29, 1932 in S.E. Adair County, Missouri. the son of Horace Henry and Betty Rebecca (Dorman) (Oliver) Hill. Roger was married to Anna Catherine “Sue” Hitz on December 26, 1954 in Columbia, Missouri, and to this union three children were born. On September 1, 1968 in Atlanta, Missouri, he married Samantha Sagaser Andrews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sue in 1967; one sister, Karen Drews in 2009 and two sisters and a brother in infancy.

Survivors include his wife, Samantha; sons, Stephen E. Hill (Debbie) of Kirksville, MO, Michael D. Hill (Sheila) of Blue Springs, MO and Wesley Andrews (Julie) of Blue Springs, MO; daughters, Dr. Melanie Grgurich (Edward) of Novinger, MO and Susan Andrews DeHamer (Don) of Litchfield Park, AZ; five grandsons, David Hill of Briarwood, NY, Brendan Grgurich of Novinger, MO, Matthew Hill of Ft. Gordon, GA, Mark Hill of Camp Pendleton, CA and Charles Andrews of Blue Springs, MO; eight granddaughters, Elise Grgurich, Anna C. Grgurich, Megan Hill Sova (Jared), Veronica Hill, Abigail Andrews, Brandy Hood, Shae Johnson, Tera Johnson, and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hill attended Willow Branch School, Kemper Military School, Booneville, MO and Missouri University of Columbia, MO and received his ROTC commission. He was a pilot in the United States Army Reserves for a number of years. He was a farmer involved with the family Hill Turkey business and later with cattle.

His hobbies included sports, flying, and he enjoyed visiting with people.

Public visitation will be held Friday (December 30, 2011) after 4:00 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (December 31, 2011) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Steve Young officiating. Music selections, “On Eagles Wings” and “Oh How He Loves You & Me” and other selections will be provided by Debbie young, pianist, Elise Grgurich, soloist and Don DeHamer, violinist. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Hill, Michael Hill, Brendan Grgurich, Mark Hill, Charles Andrews and Matthew Hill.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Roger Hill may be made to Missouri Baptist Children’s Home or to the First Baptist Church of Winigan. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
