Willadean Shumaker, 85, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Sunday (December 25, 2011) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of Jacob Samuel and Ruth (Briddle) Adkins, she was born May 26, 1926 in Brashear, Missouri. On November 7, 1943, Willadean was united in marriage to Harold Lloyd Shumaker and to this union, one son, Paul was born.

She is preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Harold; one son, Paul and three brothers, Archie, Samuel and Johnnie Adkins.

Willadean is survived by three grandsons, Brian Shumaker and wife Korki of Kirksville, MO, Kail Shumaker and friend, Dianna Dunham of Novinger, MO and Josh Shumaker of Columbia, MO; two great-granddaughters, Kalee and Jayme Shumaker; sister-in-law, Doris Adkins of Keokuk, IA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Tuttle and several nieces and nephews.

Willadean received her education in the Hurdland public schools. She resided most of her life in Novinger and was employed twenty-eight years at Hollister, Inc. until retiring in May of 1993. She will be remembered for being a very loving and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She also loved flowers.

Public visitation will be held Thursday (December 29, 2011) from noon until 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Following visitation, graveside service at 2:00 p.m. will be held at Novinger Cemetery, with Reverend Darrell Crooks presiding.

Pallbearers will be Brian Shumaker, Marion Miller, Kevin Blackorby, Kail Shumaker, Jack Pickett and David Tuttle.
