Carolyn Sue Sullivan Kiene, 61, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday (December 24, 2011) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

She was born August 8, 1950 in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Delia Sullivan Gray. On Saturday (October 5, 2002), Carolyn was united in marriage to Richard Kiene, the love of her life.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Richard; one son, Brian (Stephanie) Sullivan of Kirksville, MO; two grandsons, Cody Sullivan and Wyatt Sullivan both of Kirksville, MO; two nephews, Danny (Sheila) Sullivan of Kirksville, MO and Robert Minnix of New Mexico, and one sister, Sharon (Larry) Minnix of Kirksville, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delia and Leon Gray; her grandparents, Rena and James Albert Sullivan, and one sister, Linda Sullivan.

Carolyn was a graduate from Kirksville High School. She worked for a number of years for Donaldson’s before the plant closed. Caroyn also worked as a Legal Aid, Maritz Research, Ortech and was last employed as a bus driver for Northeast Missouri Community Action Agency, retiring in 2009. She enjoyed being a bus driver and has told many memorable stories about the children that touched her life. Carolyn enjoyed watching her son play and sing, spending time with her grandsons, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals play. She also enjoyed shopping trips with her sister and her husband Rich.

She was active with the Salvation Army during her younger years.

Public visitation will be held Thursday (December 29, 2011) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday (December 30, 2011) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor David Lukefahr officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Rick Shuey, Chuck Hayes, Danny Sullivan, Levi Sullivan, Jeff Rushing and Mark Kiene. Honorary bearers will be Cody Sullivan, Wyatt Sullivan, David Sullivan, Larissa Sullivan, Mikaela Sullivan, Charlie Sullivan, and Gene Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carolyn Kiene Memorial Fund. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
