George Franklin Sullivan, 84, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday (December 17, 2011) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of James Albert and Rena Belle (Osborn) Sullivan, he was born December 5, 1927 in Adair County, Missouri. In 1948, George was united in marriage to Iris N. Scofield who preceded him in death in 2006.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Sullivan Sr.; one granddaughter, Terri Jo Simpson; one grandson, Jamie Joe Cuculich; three brothers and two sisters.

George is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Sullivan and John Sullivan and wife Kebbie; two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Kron and Vicky and Larry Baker; two brothers, Charlie and David Sullivan; one sister, Carol Findling; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and a special daughter-in-law, Christine Sullivan.

George served overseas in the Army during WWII and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 2508 where he volunteered for the last fifteen years. He was a truck driver all of his life and last drove a mail truck for Clarence Howard until his retirement.

George enjoyed making lamps and clocks, giving many to his family and friends. It was George’s request for all who knew him to take a walk down memory lane upon his passing. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Graveside services under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home, were held 2:00 p.m. today, Monday (December19, 2011) at Forest Llewellyn Cemetery in Kirksville, with Pastor Dustyn Tallman presiding.
