Billy “Bill” Holt, 73, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday (October 22, 2011) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Frank William and Mary Marie (Skender) Holt, he was born April 8, 1938 in Tipperary, Missouri. On October 5, 1958 Bill was united in marriage to Evelyn Louise Klingsmith who preceded him in death on July 18, 1997. On February 14, 1999, Bill married Carolyn “Carol” Williams.

Bill is survived by his wife Carol of the home; one son, Darrell Holt and wife Connie of Kirksville, MO; one daughter, Linda Carter and husband Rick of Kirksville, MO; one step son, Frank Noel and wife Sherrie of Frankford, MO; one step daughter, Glenna Noel of LaPlata, MO; two brothers, his twin Bob Holt and wife Donna and Joe Holt and wife Charlotte all of Kirksville, MO; two sisters, Margie Sellars of Ft. Smith, AR and Ruth Null of Oklahoma City, OK; five grandchildren, Melissa (Reese) Power, Cortney Holt, Whitney Carter, Cody Holt and Shaun Holt; three great grandchildren, Aidyn Rowland, Cayge Kessell and Grady Power, as well as his step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Darrel, Billy, Clarence, Dale and Kenneth Holt and one sister, Lola Kemp.

Bill received his education in the Kirksville public schools. He was employed forty-five years for International Shoe Factory, later Florsheim Shoe Factory until retiring in 1999. While employed at the shoe factory he served as President of the Union sixteen years. In 2000, Bill went to work for Weber Bus Company where he met and enjoyed many children.

His hobbies included bowling, Nascar ( Bill was an avid Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan), hunting, fishing and he enjoyed searching for things with his medal detector. Bill also looked forward to meeting with his buddies for Coffee every morning at Hy-Vee and taking trips to Cabela’s with friends, always enjoying teasing Mike when passing Bevier, about going the wrong way on I 35.

Bill was devoted to his family and thoroughly loved seeing and playing with his grandchildren.

He was a member of New Hope Evangelical Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday (October 25, 2011) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (October 26, 2011) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Reverend Darrell Draper officiating. Interment will follow the service at Lutz Cemetery, south of Novinger, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Neil Travis, Mike Clarahan, Bobby Withrow, Ron Weber, Frank Eskra, Bill Adkins and Charlie Jones. Honorary bearers will be Bobby Matheney, Harold Love, Bill Floyd, Jim Brackney, Harold Moyer, Randy Martin, Roy Hamlin, Shane Weber Shannon Weber, Gene Valentine, Tony Robertson, Leon Hutcheson and Eldon Coy.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bill may be made to Lutz Cemetery. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
