Orville Earl Pipes, 73, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away Saturday (March 1, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The son of George Earl and Hazel B. (Haggy) Pipes, he was born September 5, 1940 in Green Castle, Missouri.
Orville is survived by one son Steve Pipes of Yucca Valley, CA; three daughters, Kelly Snapp of Enid, OK, Cathy Pocock of Oklahoma City, OK and Kristi Pipes of Amarillo, TX; one sister, Vonda Phelps of Queen City, MO; two nephews, Raymond and Scott Phelps both of Greentop, MO and two nieces, Debbie Arnold of Haskell, OK and Tammy Dole of Greentop, MO; eight grandchildren, Shelby and Brice Snapp, Abri and Colson Pocock, Tyston Pipes, Niq O’Brien and Alma and Corrie Pipes; six great nephews; two great great nephews, and, one great great niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Keith Phelps Jr.
Orville was employed a number of years at Florsheim Shoe Factory until retiring. He was a life long horseman, a Western history buff and was a longtime devoted worker for Alcoholics Anonymous.
It was Orville’s wish to be cremated and a memorial service to honor his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (March 4, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
Honorary pallbearers will be Colson Pocock, Tyston Pipes, Nicholas O’Brien, Brice Snapp, Carl Phelps, Kevin Phelps and Jakob Phelps.
Orville will be interred at a later date at Price Cemetery near Winigan, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous or to Meals on Wheels. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
