Franklin Pierce Lonberger, 92, formerly of Kirksville, MO passed away peacefully Thursday, September 22, 2022 at his daughter’s home in Springfield, MO where he had resided since 2018.

The son of John Robert and Delia Mae (Allen) Lonberger, he was born January 8th, 1930 in Greentop, MO.
On July 18th, 1946 in LaPlata, MO Frank was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Jackson.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Treda Lynn and Michael Moyer of Springfield, MO; one daughter-in-law, Gemma Lonberger of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Nicole (Lonberger) and husband Jonathan Shelby of Columbia, MO; Vinessa Moyer and husband James McKown and Rebecca Moyer all of Springfield, MO; Tristan Lonberger of Denver CO; and three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Franklin “Hughes”, and Theodore Shelby of Columbia, MO along with several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; his wife of sixty-six years, Dorothy; two sons, Sam and Daniel Lonberger; one grandson, Franklin “Tyler” Lonberger; one brother, Georgie Lonberger; and two sisters, Lorena Klingsmith and Mary Esther Knott.

Frank was a professional bird dog trainer, working both hunting and field trial dogs for people all over the U.S.

He loved being at home with his family and taught the kids to play and love music as much as he did. Over the years, Frank had several dance bands and he and Dorothy enjoyed the many friendships that grew out of his music.

It was Franks wish to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held to celebrate his life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Mark Zimmerman officiating.

Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. before the memorial service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Access Hospice Care, 1403 State Highway J, Ozark, MO 65721 or may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
