Louise Buress of Kirksville, Missouri passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Northeast Regional Medical Center. She had been in declining health for several months.
Norma Louise was born October 3, 1927 in Pure Air, Missouri. Louise was the third of six children born to Grover Wilson and Ruth Marie (Daniels) Jones. Louise married Wilford Dean Douglas in Novinger, Missouri on January 17, 1946. Louise and Wilford lost a son, Steven Dean, in infancy in 1948. They were blessed with a daughter, Becky (Terry) Flanagan who preceded Louise in death in 1995.
Louise was a lifelong resident of Adair County and received her education in the Golden Rule rural school. She loved being a homemaker, but was also employed with Wilford at the International and Florsheim Shoe companies before their retirement. They enjoyed making beautiful crafts. Louise was a long time member of Hamilton Street Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, and aunt.
Louise married William Laverne “Bill” Buress on May 1, 1999 in Kirksville, Missouri. Louise gained two sons, David (Kathy) Childers and Dan (Mary) Childers, 4 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. Bill and Louise loved to take short trips and take care of each other. Bill preceded her in death on April 8, 2020.
Louise was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and sister-in-law, Darrel and Dorothy Jones; one sister and brother-in-law, Ramah and Stan Stanek; brothers- in-law, Donald “Pinky” Daniels, LaVern Douglas, Donald Casey, Donald Douglas; and sister-in-law, Reta Thomas.
Louise is survived by son-in-law, Terry Flanagan; grandsons, Michael and Cody Flanagan; sisters, Clara Dee Daniels and Laura Rachel Casey; brother, Bob (Sharon) Jones; sisters-in-law, Ramah Douglas, Crystal Douglas, and Velda Davison, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Virgil Jones will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Barb Daniels, soloist. The selections will be “He Touched Me” and “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.” Interment will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri.
Pall bearers will be Mike Flanagan, David Daniels, Chris Jones, Roger Casey, Danny Daniels, and Brad Hudson.
Memorials in memory of Louise may be made to The Pines Residents’ Fund, Hamilton Street Baptist Church, Ringo Point Cemetery, or donor’s choice. Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, Missouri 63501.

I am sorry to hear about Louise! I used to visit with her & Bill when my parents resided next to them at Twin Pines.

I am sending my prayers and condolences to the family. Bill and Louise are near and dear to my heart. They will be missed greatly, but they have been reunited with family, friends, and each other.
