Nathaniel Aaron Burns, 43, of Macon, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Samaritan Hospital in Macon.

The son of Daniel Ray and Jo Ellen (Poppy) Burns, Nathaniel was born May 21, 1975 in Pontiac, Michigan. On June 27, 2003 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Nathaniel was united in "marriage to Elisabeth Ann Bishop".

Nathaniel is survived by his wife, Elisabeth of the home; four sons, Guy, Rufus, Timothy and Henry all of the home; four daughters, Aletheia, Charis, Sophia, and Zoe all of the home; his parents, Daniel and Jo Ellen Burns of Apache Junction, AZ; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Timothy and Teresa Bishop of Ypsilanti, MI; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jacob and Betsy Burns of Goodlettesville, TN and Jesse and Katy Burns of Clarence, N.Y.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jodene and Michael Reppert of St. Louis, MO, and Elisabeth and Jason Frazier of San Tan, AZ; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Nathaniel was a graduate from Winston Churchill High School with the Class of 1993. He then served his country proudly five years in the United States Marine Corp receiving numerous medals and ribbons. Nathaniel then received a Bachelor of Arts and Biblical Studies from Fairhaven Baptist College in Chesterton, IN. In 2007, Nathaniel and Elisabeth moved to Kirksville to make their home and Nathaniel worked as a substitute teacher in the counties of Sullivan, Knox, Schuyler, Macon and Adair.

Nathaniel and Elisabeth were very active in the Southside Baptist Church where Nathaniel was devoted and loved directing nursing home ministry and children's church.

For the past five years, they resided in Macon where he was employed with Onshore Outsourcing as a data base administrator.

Nathaniel will be forever remembered for being a devoted husband and very loving father. He had a great faith in God, and loved all people and children.

Public visitation will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Southside Baptist Church in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church on Friday, January 11, 2019, under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville, and "Pastor Aaron Rodgerson" will preside. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, "memorial donations may be made to Nathaniel's wife Elisabeth Burns for ongoing family maintenance expenses" and may be left at the Southside Baptist Church or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

Nate was my adopted Nephew!! He was a great kid and turned into a great man! I can't believe he is gone! God must have needed him more than this world did! Comfort is we will see him again!
