Lyle Fay Truitt, 90, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 at his home under Hospice care.

The son of Mina and Minnie (Preston) Truitt, Lyle was born September 26, 1928 in Novinger, Missouri. Lyle was united in marriage to Lottie (Puerzer) Dawson on May 12, 2003 who survives.

Lyle is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lonna Truitt of Springfield, MO; one daughter, Bonnie Truitt of Kirksville, MO; one step-son, Walter Enzelberger and wife Petra of Germany; two step daughters, Angie Rouse and husband Eldon, and Diana Dawson all of Kirksville, MO; one sister, Irene Snyder of Kirksville, MO; three grandchildren, Michael Blake, Zachary and Aaron Truitt; two step-grandchildren, Leise Kelly and husband Chris, and Lydia Dawson; several step grand and step great-grandchildren, as well as numerous special nieces and nephews.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Betty of forty-six years; his second wife, Alice Wood; one son, Lyle Fay Truitt Jr.; six sisters, Myrtle Leininger, Mildred McKim, his twin sister Letha Hyde, Geneva Clark, Mary Holt and Christene Laske, one brother, Virgil Truitt and three other siblings in infancy.

Lyle was raised on a farm south of Novinger and received his education in the Novinger rural school. Lyle served proudly in the Arm Forces from 1950 to 1952 in Japan and Korean during the Korean Conflict. After returning home from serving he worked in the coal mines of Novinger and in construction. He was last a long time employee for the City of Kirksville until retiring in 1993. Lyle enjoyed his retirement a great deal.

Lyle enjoyed baseball and was a St. Louis Cardinal fan (never missing a game), traveling, bowling and horse shoe pitching. He was a great people person and loved everyone.

Lyle was a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of Kirksville, and past member of Kirksville Moose Lodge 1705.

Public visitation will be held Monday, November 12, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Monsignor David Cox presiding. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Truitt, Michael Truitt, Jason Vice, Aaron Truitt, Toby Rouse, and Chris Kelly. Honorary pallbearers will be Eldon Rouse, Dwain Spangler, Dale Laske, Bob Holt, Joe Holt, David Clark, and Danny Reed.
